✨ BEYOND FASTING ✨

✨ BEYOND FASTING ✨

Health Heroes!🦸‍♀️

Have you ever thought of fasting to be something more than a physical experience?

In my experience, fasting has been such that has put me face to face with the underlying restlessness that most of us carry around but usually keep satiated and busy.

I recently went 9 days on just liquids… After days of not eating, I noticed a calmness come over me. An Inner Peace.

I remembered an intimacy with Self that for years has been subtly pushed down with food.

This was when I realized that fasting is becoming a consistent thing for me.

When I fast, I remember, and when I remember, I grow and thrive in the moment.

A few quotes from Gabriel Cousens, M.D:

“Spiritual fasting is a mystical sacrifice of body and mind that opens the heart to god.”

“Spiritual Fasting is conducive to rest and rejuvenation on every level of mind, body, and spirit. It allows our physical bodies to turn to the assimilation of Divine or cosmic energy rather than biochemical energy.”

“Fasting cures disease, dries up bodily humors, puts demons to flight, gets rid of impure thoughts, makes the mind clear, the heart purer, and the body sanctified, and raises man to the throne of God.”

In my experience, fasting has been a very humbling experience.

Helping me to see and remember that I am so much more than this body.

In our society we’ve created this weird thought that you need to eat three wholesome meals a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner, in order to live a balanced life. I challenge everything, so naturally I wonder whose brilliant idea was this… Perhaps it was the same people who said a majority of our diet should consist of wheat, dairy and meat?

If you haven’t given fasting a try. I suggest skipping breakfast one day, maybe dinner another day. Slowly start to remove meals and if you feel called… Go extended periods of time without food. One day. Maybe 10. Whatever feels right to you at the moment. There is no wrong or right way, it’s an intimate individual experience. Use fasting as a way to drop into your body and listen to your intuition. It’s okay to set goals, but it’s even more important to tune into your body’s needs at any given moment.
